Diamonds are girls' best friend. How true is it? very true. You may not agree with me. But I guess, as times pass by, you may agree with me. What I meant was, when you get older, you will have different view on many things, including diamond. And of coz, I do have girl friends who do not like diamond, yes, there are girls like that. Some minority cases. I like diamonds, for sure. For that clean, clear, and shining stone.
As I am going back to parents this weekend, I thought of getting my mom something nice. Giving birth to me was not an easy job for her, and raising me up certainly was not anyhow easier. I should pamper her more. So I walked around, and I saw this big 70% off promo at this jewelry near my office. My eyes got locked down at a nice diamond pendant in there, a simple classic design, and yes, it's on 70%!!! But being a not- so- nice- daughter, I was not sure if my mom likes that design, or rather, that design suitable for her or not. So I dragged myself out from the shop, not buying that nice pendant and called up my sis to check out more on my mom's preferences. Sis confirmed that mom will go for a more classic classy design. More classic classy design must be more expensive isn't it? But due to the current economic downturn, I do not want to stretch my wallet more, so during lunch just now , I got back to the same shop, thinking to look for something more classy plus something within my budget. Right outside the shop, at the display window , this time, my heart stopped pumping, I could not breathe, I saw a pendant, which my instinct ( or 6th sense ? ) immediately telling me that is the one I am looking for, that is the one classic classy type mom for sure will like it!!! And and and, the price, the price is just good price, cheaper than the one I saw yesterday. I rushed into the shop, while waiting to be attended by the shop assistant, I had a quick scan-through ( being a shopaholic, quick scan through is something you should do entering a shop you are not familiar with, coz it allows you to know whats there good to grab in a shop, if your 6th sense does not give you good impression on "is there anything good in there" from the quick scan through, then maybe you should just walk out or just dun spend too much time in that shop) at the shop, I realised that there was not anymore promotion on 70% off. I was smiling in my heart, luckily I did not get that piece yesterday, because, I got a better deal today! Happily, I got that pendant and now I cant wait to give it to my mom.
Talking about diamonds, for sure you will think of wedding/engagement too right? No, I am not talking about my wedding, or I am planning to have one. What interest me now is money( like I said at the beginning of this post, as you get older, you will have different views on the same thing. I reckon I love money more than what I did last time, and I did think through of why is it so? The reason I found is, at different stage of your life, you will have different needs. And when you think of the need to plan for your future, or just maybe your life after retirement, you will think of retirement plan right? and thats where you'll start to love to have more money so that you can save up for a better retirement. And some of coz, yes, when you think of starting your own family, thats where you will find money that the money you are earning now is just not enough for you to start a family.)
I always have a dream to start up my own business, recently have been doing research on wedding gift business. So, I visited Vera Wang website for some ideas. And I should say, it is a very good website for couples who are planning on their wedding/engagement. Very pratical information. You will find some inspiration on how you want your this important day to be. I did also do some research on cupcakes, fashion, accessorries, but still. I do not know what should I sell??? and how and where and when.
Wedding, my own wedding. Well, if I am rich enough by the time I get married, I will want that gown from Vera Wang. And tell you what, in Singapore, you can get the bridal down from V.W at
The Link, Ubi Techpark.
And now goes back to diamond. Although 1 carat diamond ring is always good to have, but I think it is just too big for my little finger. Some says that the price of the diamond should be twice of the salary of the groom, but according to V.W., that saying is now antiquated . Well, I buy that idea. In this modern world, I find that it is hard to find the right one to spend your rest of your life, once you found one, you should be cherish and not setting up the rules on how big the diamond should or how much it must cost. I am a strong believer of Buddhism. I belive that being a human is already a fault, a defect by its own; we are all flawed. Nothing is perfect in this world. So when you have the chance to be with the one, just cherish the one you have and as for the diamond ring, it is up to the other party to decide on the budget.
